Adopt-a-Room
Cumberland Healthcare’s Extended Care Unit is excited to announce the start of a community-wide campaign requesting donations from members of the community and local businesses for a renovation project. We are asking local businesses and organizations to contribute towards an “Adopt-A-Room” program, which for $20,000 covers the cost of renovations to one room. In appreciation, special plaques will be installed next to the door of the room to honor the generosity and commitment.
This program has been met with tremendous support from community members and employees’ of Cumberland Healthcare already. “The support of the Cumberland community and surrounding areas has been fantastic,” states the Extended Care Unit’s Director of Nursing, Mary Freitag. “Our Extended Care Unit provides a respectable and dignified environment for our residents; however, we know we need to update our interior. This renovation project will allow us to give our residents an environment that feels more like a home and less like a hospital. We have one room completely renovated and are excited to get going on the next room shortly,” explained Freitag.
Donations from the community are utilized to cover the cost to renovate resident rooms and possible common areas within the facility. Renovations include: adding drywall to existing concrete wall structures, fresh paint for the walls, new lighting fixtures, sink, window treatments, recliners, over-the-bed tables, and wall mounted TV stands, as well as mirrors that can be adjusted for residents in wheelchairs for each room. Cumberland Healthcare employees and local contractors will be providing the labor on the project.
Extended Care Unit is physically located on the hospital campus, at 1110 Seventh Avenue, Cumberland, WI. This facility is a non-profit, 50 bed, skilled nursing home that is dedicated to meeting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the residents and families we serve. The Extended Care Unit has been a part of the community since 1961. The care of our residents is provided through an interdisciplinary coordinated approach. We are very proud to provide access to physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, x-ray, lab, and various visiting specialists along with our highly-skilled nursing staff.
